Quick Summary
- What’s happening: During menopause, many women experience hot flashes and night sweats caused by changes in thermoregulation — the body’s ability to maintain stable temperature.
- What Cryo-1 may do: By cooling the palms, Cryo-1 helps lower core temperature safely and comfortably through arteriovenous anastomoses (AVAs) — specialized skin areas proven to exchange heat efficiently.
- What to expect: Many women find that palm cooling brings noticeable comfort and relief within moments.
What the science says (and doesn’t yet)
While there isn’t yet formal, peer-reviewed research on palm cooling for menopause, studies on neck-cooling devices have shown potential benefits in reducing hot flash intensity and frequency. However, those studies have also been criticized for limited sample sizes and weak methodology (specifically, cooling the back of the neck), leaving open questions about reproducibility and mechanism.
Still, these findings support the broader idea that cooling the body’s core can help calm thermoregulatory surges associated with menopause.
What we’ve found so far
At Cryomedics, we’ve begun small-scale, anecdotal testing using the Cryo-1 device. In a group of 14 participants (n=14) between 42 and 56, every woman reported meaningful, noticeable relief from hot flashes while using Cryo-1.
Among women who tracked their symptoms:
- Average hot flashes lasted about 8.5 minutes (2.5 mins low end, 12 mins high end) without cooling.
- When Cryo-1 was applied, discomfort dropped to manageable or negligible levels within 60 seconds
- The highest reported relief was from women who experienced average symptoms of 6 minutes or more (n=9)
While these results are early and not yet peer-reviewed, they strongly suggest that palm cooling could be a promising, drug-free method for managing menopausal temperature swings.
Our approach
Unlike cooling devices that target the neck or face, Cryo-1 focuses on the palmar AVA regions, where heat exchange is most efficient. This allows for rapid comfort cooling without discomfort or numbness, and in a portable, clean, non-invasive form.
Looking ahead
We’re encouraged by these results and are pursuing opportunities for university-led, peer-reviewed studies to confirm these early observations.
In the meantime, we invite women who experience hot flashes or temperature-related discomfort to try Cryo-1 for themselves. Many find comfort quickly — and if you don’t, our 30-day return policy ensures you can return the device with confidence.
